Why did we create this program?

If you’ve taken courses on Quality or Lean or Six Sigma training in the past, or learned about process improvement tools and methods on your own, then you know how challenging it can be to apply what you learned.

You no longer have access to the course materials, or didn’t have time to implement what you learned, and now you’re stuck.

Whether you’re rolling out a new project, stuck on data analysis, or facing resistance to change, you need specific help for your unique situation that aligns within your company culture.

You’re already solving problems. Now let’s help you solve them faster, with less frustration, and more impact.

Maybe you’ve had the following questions:

  • “What do I do next?”
  • “How do I deal with this situation?”
  • “How do I do that statistical analysis again?”
  • “Where in Minitab/SigmaXL/JMP can I perform that analysis?”
  • “What do this statistical analysis mean?”
  • “What tool/technique would be ideal for my situation?”
  • “How do I get my leadership or co-workers more engaged?”
  • “What order should I introduce different tools and methods?”
  • “Where in my organization should I start?”
  • “Is it better to go broad or narrow at the beginning of our transformation?”
  • “How do I help my management identify the right projects?”
  • “What should be included in our training?”
  • “What tools are required for different training or belt levels?”
  • “How do I fix this particular quality/throughput/safety issue?”
  • “Is my improvement statistically valid?”
  • “How do I transform my organization by myself?”
  • “What other training do you recommend for me?”

You might also be working alone, and need reinforcement and support that you’re on the right track, while being held accountable for making steady progress.

Maybe you’re “in over your head” and don’t want to admit that you don’t remember everything from your certification program years ago.

When I teach Lean Six Sigma courses, I always provide coaching calls to help people implement what they learn, because it is a lot to learn at once, and it takes time to become proficient.

I also require real-world projects before issuing a certification, because the actual learning takes place when you apply the course material to a real problem.

When you’re just starting out, you can get stuck easily.

That’s where our coaching comes in.

Another great reason for coaching is to be efficient at getting the answers you need. Training courses can require you to search around for the right module to watch, and there is no guarantee it will give you the answer you’re looking for.

Listen to this short clip during my interview with Kristle Bulleman of Make-A-Wish about how coaching has helped her be more effective solving problems.

Why work with me?

I’m Brion Hurley. I’m a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. I’ve been coaching for over 25 years (since 1999), and I love helping people solve problems!

I’ve implemented Lean and Six Sigma within many organizations and industries. I’ve helped certify over 200 Lean and Six Sigma projects and trained over 4,000 people, leading to millions of dollars of cost savings.

I have a strong network of practitioners and mentors. If I can’t answer your questions, I know someone who can. If you want to discuss further, schedule a quick call with me, and we can discuss if this program is right for you.

FAQ

I’m not sure if group coaching is for me…

Here are some advantages to the group coaching model, compared to individual/private coaching.

  1. Lower Cost per session (and private coaching still available once per month)
  2. Gain value from peer insights and experiences (more perspectives and suggestions)
  3. Learn from others’ questions and challenges
  4. Networking with others across different industries, roles, cultures and experience levels
  5. Encouragement, accountability, and empathy from peers on similar journeys
  6. Helps expand thinking and apply tools in creative, non-traditional ways
  7. Regular meetings create a structured learning habit
  8. Exposure to multiple topics and situations makes you more versatile over time

What is a typical agenda for the group coaching calls?

  • Check-ins (quick wins and successes)
  • Topic of the day (review one tool or method)
  • Hot seat – what support do you need? (10-20 mins per person)
  • Open discussion
  • Key takeaways and insights from the call
  • Action items for next call

Can I work with others in my sector, industry or experience level?

As our program grows, we’ll move you into specific coaching tracks to better target your learning:

  • Lean Six Sigma Deployment and Culture Change – Strategies for launching and leading continuous improvement programs and building a culture of improvement
  • Statistical Analysis – Advanced support for Minitab/SigmaXL/JMP, Regression Analysis, ANOVA, DOE, Hypothesis Tests, Nonparametric Analysis and other advanced statistical techniques. Ideal for current or future Black Belts and Master Black Belts.
  • Lean – Value stream mapping, flow, pull, waste reduction, daily huddles, 5S and more.
  • Healthcare – Clinical and laboratory process improvements and better flow, patient satisfaction and flow, staff engagement and satisfaction, risk management, near misses, compliance
  • Nonprofits & Government – Lean thinking for mission-driven work in the charity or public sector (apply here)
  • Sustainability & Environment – Process improvement for environmental and social impact within your company
  • Exam Prep for ASQ Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (CSSGB/CSSBB) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certification – prepare to take an upcoming certification exam
  • International for those who need support at different times of day outside of North America, such as Europe/Africa, Middle East/India and Asia Pacific/Australia

However, just because your group is targeted doesn’t mean we cannot talk about other topics. We just want 80% of the conversation to be focused on that topic.

Join the group that best fits your role or industry, or switch to another group anytime.

I’m not sure I can afford this program

This is an investment in your skills. This program can help you solve a critical work problem (saving your company lots of money), boost your resume by achieving your certification, earn you a bonus or simply improve your job performance.

If you get a pay raise or bonus from successful improvements or outstanding job performance, it will more than cover the cost of the coaching program for one year (about $2400 per year). That might seem like a lot of money, but imagine what you can accomplish in one year from now with our assistance.

You’ll also save money on purchasing other courses, templates and guides, as our program includes over $3000 in value.

You might also get this program reimbursed or paid by your company. Contact us if you need us to invoice your company (quarterly or annually).

Do I need to have completed my Lean or Six Sigma training or taken a course?

As long as you have taken some training, you are eligible (even if it was years ago). But if you haven’t completed the program or certification, you are not alone. We can help you get through your program, or help you use these skills in your daily work.

If you don’t have any knowledge on Lean or Six Sigma yet, then we recommend taking a training course, or getting familiar with the common tools and methods through self-study.

DIY Lean Six Sigma Training and Certification Program we recommend

  • Lean
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Six Sigma Black Belt

But we also have content within our program you can reference, but you’ll need to spend time getting familiar with the content and go through many of the modules to get up to speed.

Therefore, it’s better if you have some overview training first before you begin.

Not sure if you’re ready? Contact us and we’ll discuss your situation.

I need weekly calls to help me through my project or work assignment. What other options do you have?

If you need more frequent help than twice a month, we have another option for you, called the Platinum Membership.

Our Platinum membership offers weekly 1-hour private coaching to help you through a critical project, quickly ramp up your skill set for a new project or job, or help you stay focused and on-track.

What if I need something else?

If you have a specific question that might take only 15 minutes or less, please set up a coaching call with me, and I’ll help you out!

Managers: If you’d like a private session for your direct reports or within your company (due to privacy or data sensitivity concerns), we can setup a custom group for your team (up to 10 people) for $997/month billed to your company. 4 or less is better to pay for individual memberships. Contact us to learn more.

Can you invoice us for the monthly coaching?

Yes, I’ll ask you to approve a purchase order to confirm your initial commitment, but if you no longer feel the coaching is beneficial, you can cancel at anytime. We want to make it easy to get you the support you need, so have your finance people contact us to discuss payment options.
